Ms Idara Aguinaga discovered her gift for music at a very young age. Violin, music teaching, conducting, composing, arranging and solo performing were all part of her early life. As with all true musically blessed individuals, every form of music expression was of great interest to her. And in 2013, with her voice now fully matured, she diligently began exploring the art of singing as an operatic soprano.
After years of intense self-training and with great personal discipline, it became indisputably obvious... she possessed the gift of a true coloratura soprano. Coupled with rare operatic power, phenomenal endurance and an impressive tessitura, Ms Aguinaga brilliantly exudes with mature sensitivity and emotion the sincere passion required for the masterpieces she now sings and loves. She literally lives out every song (with her voice in character and being) in all her performances.
Technique & Repertoire: Precise diction in any language and true musicality radiates in her every performance. Yet, her voice is deep, rich and full... and amazingly enters the higher register with ease and agility. Leaps, runs, jumps and trills all seem effortless. Her exceptional abilities are openly demonstrated by performing some of the most difficult and moving arias in the coloratura world. She has enthusiastically built a full repertoire of over 40 classic arias in her first 6 months of singing. Including: Queen of the Night Aria, Fruhlingsstimmen, The Bell Song, Ah Non Giunge, and The Mad Scene from Lucia Di Lammermoor to name only a few. Just as impressive is her sensitivity in dramatic arias such as Pace, Pace Mio Dio, Oh Quante Volte, Con Onor Muore, Vissi d'Arte and many more. Her repertoire of Sacred songs includes such rare gems as Rejoice Greatly O Daughter of Zion, The Holy City, and Let The Bright Seraphim. There seems to be no limit to her ability to master even the most difficult vocal challenges.
Languages: Being completely self-taught as a coloratura soprano with no formal voice training, she has enjoyed the artistic freedom that comes from naturally discovering her God given talent and artistically sharing it with all who desire to hear the most beautiful classic arias the world has ever known. Presently she sings in 11 languages. Including: English, Spanish, Latin, French, Italian, German, Czech, Russian, Chinese and even Hebrew.

Young Life: Ms. Idara was born in Canada of Jewish and Norwegian descent. At the age of four she began asking to learn music. Finally at the age of 6, when the desire had not died down, she was given a violin by her great, great uncle and began her studies. She excelled beyond anyone’s expectations and soon entered the Royal Conservatory School of Music in Canada. By age 13 she had mastered the violin and having completed all qualifications began a professional career performing as well as teaching. During her teenage years aside from teaching the violin, her interest in music expanded into the appreciation of operatic singing, composing and conducting. Although never attempting to sing anything operatic in her young life, this fuller appreciation of music was just a glimpse of greater things to come.

After years of intense self-training and with great personal discipline, it has now become indisputably obvious... she possesses the gift of a true coloratura soprano.
Composition: As a young adult, Idara's musical giftings also brought about an intense and unquenchable desire to compose as well. Today, her own compositions have been successfully rated in comparison by her colleagues and piers to the great masters such as Bela Bartok, Antonin Dvorak and Johannes Brahms. Ms Idara Aguinaga's prodigious abilities and talents have also put her in demand for artistic arranging. To date, she has arranged over 500 pieces for various instrumentations and soloists around the world. Although Idara has arranged and composed many solos, duets and orchestral pieces throughout the 30 years of her musical career, 2018-19 holds a particularly special time in Ms Idara's musical expression as she begins culminating her life's ambitions and work into composing a stylistically new and fully complete 4 movement symphony to be released to the public in 2019.
Positions: Even though Ms. Idara became an accomplished violinist at a very young age winning many solo competitions in Canada and the USA and began teaching at 13, she continued blossoming into a well rounded music professional. Completing her studies through the Royal Conservatory of Music. From 2004-2008 Idara was the Richmond Youth Orchestra String Ensemble Music Director. She has been a member of the UBC Symphony Orchestra, UBC Chamber Orchestra, BC Sinfonetta and the West Coast Symphony. During her spare time, she often performs with many other symphonic organizations such as the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. Relocating to the USA, she was asked to head up the position of professor of strings at the local college. Currently Idara holds a principal position with the Missoula Symphony Orchestra. She continues to teach violin and gives master classes for students and teachers in music camps across Canada and the United States. She is often invited to adjudicate student competitions throughout North America.
Conducting: Being so well rounded and involved in the music world at such a young age, it came as no surprise when Idara was asked at the age of 19 to begin conducting both orchestra and choir to which a new realm of musicianship was opened and keeps her in demand today. Her passion for music whether violin, conducting, singing, teaching or performing is always challenging the music world and creating awe in the hearts of those who hear her music.
Mission: Ms Aguinaga will continue to seek out new performing opportunities internationally. She has fostered a passion within herself not only to sing as a coloratura soprano and perform as a violinist, but more importantly to conduct and compose new and bold symphonic pieces. Her life long goal of helping to revive the cultural interest in classical music to a new generation of listeners will be the real mark she leave upon this world.
